From Lab Coat to Ledger
I didn’t take the most conventional route to becoming a CPA. I originally studied Chemistry at the University of Ottawa but found it was missing something important: connection with a diverse set of people. I took my analytical, logic, and math skills from the lab and jumped into the accounting world. What attracted me to the profession was getting to meet a variety of clients in different industries and getting to work on something different each day.
A Bit About My Journey
I graduated from Algonquin College with an Advanced Diploma in Business Administration in 2014 and returned to the University of Ottawa where I graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce with Specialization in Accounting in 2019. While at college and university I did co-op terms at a local midsize firm dipping my toes in both assurance and tax services. I joined HW Partners full-time in 2019 and earned my CPA designation in 2022. Since then, I’ve worked closely with a variety of clients providing assurance and accounting services. As a manager, I enjoy training junior staff and co-op students to help develop competencies towards becoming a CPA.
What Matters to Me
I value efficiency without compromising quality of work. I aim to bring clear communication, empathy, and curiosity while fostering relationships with both my colleagues and clients.
Life Outside the Office
Outside of work, you’ll find me escaping into a romantasy novel, adventuring in the latest RPG, knitting or crocheting a cozy garment, walking my mini goldendoodle, or spending time with family and friends.
