From the Page to the Ledger
You could say I found my way into accounting by accident, or by curiosity. I earned a BA in English from Dalhousie University, but along the way I picked up a few accounting electives and quickly realized I had a knack for it. A few years later, I returned to Dalhousie University to earn my MBA, this time fully committed to the numbers. Since then, I’ve never looked back.
A Bit About My Journey
Before joining Hendry Warren, I spent 19 years as a controller for a hi-tech firm here in Ottawa. That experience provided me with a profound understanding of how financial systems support operational success and the importance of maintaining clarity, consistency, and timely reporting. I recently joined the team at HW Partners as Corporate Controller, and I’m proud to be part of a firm that takes client service and internal excellence equally seriously.
What Matters to Me
To me, a good day is when I’ve helped solve someone’s problem, answered a question, or provided guidance that makes someone’s life easier. Whether it’s a client or a colleague, that moment of clarity or support makes the work meaningful. I see accounting as more than numbers—it’s about helping others feel secure and confident in their financial decisions.
Life Outside the Office
I still enjoy reading, just for pleasure now, rather than for coursework. I also value time with family and friends, and I live by the belief that small efforts to help others can have a significant impact, even in everyday moments.
