From Northern Roots to Professional Purpose
I was inspired to pursue a career in accounting by my uncle, a respected sole practitioner in northern Ontario, whose work had a real impact on his community. As a university student, I spent two summers working at his firm in Kirkland Lake and quickly realized how much I loved the work. The complexity of the challenges, the sense of purpose in helping business owners, and the camaraderie of the team made a lasting impression. I knew then that public accounting was where I wanted to be.
A Bit About My Journey
I graduated from Sir Wilfrid Laurier University and earned my Chartered Accountant designation in 2000. I first joined HW Partners in the early 2000s, left in 2005 to broaden my experience with a national firm and in industry, and returned in 2016. In 2018, I became a Partner at the firm. It’s been a full-circle journey that has deepened my appreciation for the value of strong client relationships and great teamwork.
What Matters to Me
I’m passionate about helping entrepreneurs, business owners, executive teams, and not-for-profit leaders make strategic financial decisions with confidence. I bring a pragmatic, solutions-oriented mindset to everything I do, whether it’s assurance engagements, complex advisory work, or guiding long-term planning. What energizes me most is the fast pace of the profession and the diversity of the work, every client, every project, every day presents something new.
At HW Partners, I appreciate the collaborative and team-based approach we take to client service. We don’t just deliver reports, we help people move forward. Over the years, I’ve built not only strong professional relationships but also lasting friendships with clients and colleagues alike.
Life Outside the Office
Outside the office, I enjoy staying active, spending time with my family, and exploring all that Ottawa has to offer. Whether it’s getting outdoors or catching up with friends, I value connection and community, values that carry through into my professional life as well.
